Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

These terms apply to the Souva mobile app and souva.app. By using Souva you agree to them.

What Souva is

Souva helps you track what's in your pantry, find published recipes that match it, and generate new recipe ideas with AI. Your pantry and saved recipes live on your device; see the Privacy Policy for details.

Recipe content and attribution

Recipes found through web search come from third-party websites. Souva reads the structured recipe data those sites publish, shows where each recipe came from, and links to the original page. The underlying articles, photographs, and creative text belong to their authors. Souva respects sites' crawl preferences (robots.txt) and does not claim ownership of third-party recipe content.

Copyright concerns and takedowns

If you believe content available through Souva infringes your copyright, email support@souva.app with the recipe or site in question and a way to reach you. Verified requests are honored promptly, including removing a site from recipe discovery.

To help us act quickly, please include: the material you say is infringing and where in Souva it appears; the work you own; your contact details; and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized and that the information in your notice is accurate.

If we remove something in response to a notice and you believe that was a mistake, write to the same address explaining why and we will review it and restore the content if the objection is well founded. We also stop discovering recipes from any site that repeatedly turns out not to permit it, and a site can ask to be excluded from Souva at any time for any reason, with no explanation needed.

AI-generated recipes

AI-generated recipes are suggestions created by a language model. They are not reviewed or tested by a person and may contain mistakes, including unsafe ingredient combinations, incorrect quantities, or incorrect cooking times and temperatures. Treat them as ideas to evaluate, not instructions to follow blindly.

Food safety, allergens, and dietary needs

You are solely responsible for deciding whether any recipe is safe and appropriate for you to make and eat. Recipes shown in Souva, whether generated by AI or sourced from third-party websites, are provided for general informational purposes only and are not professional nutrition, medical, or food-safety advice. Before cooking or eating anything, you must check ingredients and preparation for allergens, intolerances, foodborne-illness risks (including safe cooking temperatures and storage), and any dietary, medical, or religious restrictions that apply to you.

Souva's dietary filters, tags, and "assumed staples" are a convenience and may be incomplete or wrong; they are not a guarantee that a recipe is free of any allergen or suitable for any diet. Nutrition figures marked as estimated are calculated from typical ingredient values and are approximate. If you have a food allergy or a medical condition, consult a qualified professional and verify every ingredient independently. By using Souva you assume all risk arising from preparing or consuming any recipe.

Acceptable use

Don't abuse the service: no attempting to disrupt it, overwhelm it with automated traffic, resell access to it, or use it to violate the rights of others. Free AI generation has a daily limit per install.

Souva Unlimited and fair use

Souva Unlimited is a one-time purchase that removes ads and lifts the free daily limits. "Unlimited" is subject to a fair-use ceiling set well above normal cooking use (currently 50 AI generations, 15 photo scans, and 10 receipt scans per day), which keeps a one-time price sustainable against per-use compute costs. Ceilings may be adjusted over time but will remain generous for personal use. One purchase covers one person's own devices; it is not a shared or transferable license.

Advertising

Souva is supported by ads served through Google AdMob, including an optional "watch to unlock more" rewarded ad. Ads and their data practices are described in the Privacy Policy.

No warranty

Souva is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that recipes, nutrition information, or any other content is accurate, complete, safe, or suitable for you.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Souva and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any personal injury, illness, allergic reaction, property damage, or other loss, arising out of or relating to your use of the app or your reliance on any recipe, ingredient, dietary tag, or nutrition information. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to Souva will not exceed US $50.

Indemnification

If your misuse of Souva, whether that is violating these terms, infringing someone's rights, or using recipe content in ways the source site forbids, leads to a claim against Souva LLC, you agree to cover the costs and damages that claim causes us.

Purchases and refunds

Souva Unlimited is purchased through Apple's App Store or Google Play, and those stores process all payments and refunds under their own policies. Souva has no access to your payment details. To request a refund, use the store you bought it from.

Suspension

Souva has no accounts, but we may rate-limit, block, or refuse service to any device or network that abuses the service as described under Acceptable use, and we may modify or discontinue features (or the service) at any time. If Souva is ever discontinued, your pantry and saved recipes remain on your device, and Souva Unlimited's paid features stop only when the servers they depend on do.

Who can use Souva

You must be at least 13 years old to use Souva. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Souva only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms. Souva is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them; if you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, email support@souva.app and we will delete it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in this section takes away consumer protections you are entitled to under the laws of where you live.

Disputes: informal resolution first, then arbitration

Please read this section carefully. It affects how disputes between you and Souva LLC are resolved, and it limits the ways you can seek relief from us.

Talk to us first. If you have a problem, email support@souva.app with a description of it and what you would like us to do. Most things can be sorted out this way. You and Souva LLC agree to try in good faith to resolve any dispute informally for 60 days before starting a formal proceeding.

Arbitration. If we cannot resolve it informally, you and Souva LLC agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to Souva or these terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitration will be held in New Jersey, or by phone or video, or in your home county if you prefer. The arbitrator, not a court, decides all issues relating to the scope and enforceability of this section. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.

No class actions. You and Souva LLC each agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims or preside over any form of class proceeding. If this class-action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim proceeds in court and the rest of this section still applies to every other claim.

Exceptions. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court instead, if it qualifies. Either of us may also go to court for an injunction to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property. Nothing here waives any right you cannot waive by law, and if you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that does not permit binding pre-dispute arbitration, this section does not apply to you.

Your right to opt out. You can opt out of arbitration and the class-action waiver with no effect on the rest of these terms. Email support@souva.app with the subject "Arbitration opt-out" within 30 days of first accepting these terms. That is all it takes: no form, no explanation. If you opt out, disputes are brought in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you and Souva LLC each consent to their jurisdiction.

Changes

If these terms change, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new "last updated" date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
